More about Orange

Ongoing dialogue with employees

Maintaining strong dialogue between employees and management is a crucial aspect of Orange and a key enabler in motivating employees. Dialogue is conducted with designated employee representatives following free and open elections. This includes ensuring that employee representatives are not discriminated against and that they are entitled to the same opportunities and compensation as their colleagues. To foster dialogue at all levels of organisation, the Group has set up local, national and supranational bodies to cover specific aspects of employee-management relations.

Formal Commitments

The Group’s diversity policy focuses on four priorities:

• Promoting gender equality in the workplace;

• Integrating people with disabilities;

• Helping young people from underserved communities join the workforce;

• Continually reviewing our Human Resources processes to ensure that they encourage diversity at all levels of our organisation.

A dedicated network of correspondents oversees implementation of the Group’s diversity policy, taking into account the local culture in each of the countries where the company operate. One of its main tasks is to share best practices and raise awareness of the importance of diversity within the enterprise and for society as a whole.

A safe and healthy working environment

Providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment is a paramount concern for the Group, with formal commitments defined in our Occupational Health and Safety Policy.

Group-wide standards

To endorse compliance with guidelines at all entities, an occupational health and safety standards framework was drawn up jointly with Group subsidiaries in 2008. This ensures a consistent approach across the Group while taking into account the specific safety requirements of each country

Managing work-related stress

A joint committee was set up with employee representatives to develop a preventive approach to managing work-related stress. Its work led to concrete initiatives to enhance the work environment, identified in collaboration with management.

International Marketing - India's Futuristic Approach

China and India are demographic giants which have become big economic powers before getting rich. Their rise in international trade has created two symmetric shocks, on the supply of manufactured goods and the demand of primary goods, contributing to a reversal in world relative prices. They have kept traditional specialisation in textiles but have developed new outward-oriented sectors linked to new technology. Foreign firms, through offshoring and outsourcing, have played a critical part in turning China into a global export platform for electronic products, and India into a global centre for ICT services. (Françoise Lemoine and Deniz Ünal-Kesenci, China and India in international trade: from laggards to leaders?)1

A couple of smart people are agreeing that WE ARE NOWHERE WHEN IT COMES TO CHINA. However, as usual we have the useless politicians who refuse to admit how far behind we are when it comes to China. Sadly, the discussion comes down to democracy vs China's system. I do agree that democracy is NOT TO BLAME however my view is that it is the WAY WE ARE PRACTICING DEMOCRACY IN INDIA.

There are many things where India lags behind and that are to be corrected if it is to go on the way of success. Doing Business 2010 in a series of annual reports investigate the regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it.2

In ease of doing business (rank) India-133 China-89

Trading across borders (rank) India-94 China-44

These are some of the examples where India needs to improve so the companies feel comfortable to work here in India.

Policies should be made as such that there should be more flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and FII.

These are some of the activities which the Government should perform so that India should go ahead of all nations.
