International Marketing - India's Futuristic Approach

China and India are demographic giants which have become big economic powers before getting rich. Their rise in international trade has created two symmetric shocks, on the supply of manufactured goods and the demand of primary goods, contributing to a reversal in world relative prices. They have kept traditional specialisation in textiles but have developed new outward-oriented sectors linked to new technology. Foreign firms, through offshoring and outsourcing, have played a critical part in turning China into a global export platform for electronic products, and India into a global centre for ICT services. (Françoise Lemoine and Deniz Ünal-Kesenci, China and India in international trade: from laggards to leaders?)1

A couple of smart people are agreeing that WE ARE NOWHERE WHEN IT COMES TO CHINA. However, as usual we have the useless politicians who refuse to admit how far behind we are when it comes to China. Sadly, the discussion comes down to democracy vs China's system. I do agree that democracy is NOT TO BLAME however my view is that it is the WAY WE ARE PRACTICING DEMOCRACY IN INDIA.

There are many things where India lags behind and that are to be corrected if it is to go on the way of success. Doing Business 2010 in a series of annual reports investigate the regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it.2

In ease of doing business (rank) India-133 China-89

Trading across borders (rank) India-94 China-44

These are some of the examples where India needs to improve so the companies feel comfortable to work here in India.

Policies should be made as such that there should be more flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and FII.

These are some of the activities which the Government should perform so that India should go ahead of all nations.

When you offer quality product, it attracts the customers and builds up your identity as a specialist. Once the identity is established, then it becomes rather more important to keep that distinction alive. In other words, customers faith must be nurtured at all costs in terms of both quality, as well as, quantity. The generations old legacy is a hard test of committment to cater the customers expectations. Some times, the timely supply of products is even more important than quality. For example, if you prepare some eatables......... timely preparation is must, otherwise be ready to face customers' reaction. Here you are catering the intrinsic needs of your customers. In such cases general cleanliness of the surroundings and service tables/utensils is an integral part of your service. Personal hygeine coupled with good communication makes the things more satisfying and appealing. You can focus more intensely on your work. When you care and understand your customers, they become bonded. Then there is no need for elaborate advertisements, customers love your dealing and they popularise you. Team work is also very important, you have to act like a leader not always like a boss. When you engage some helpers to undertake your business duties, you have to attend their needs/responses in a considerate manner. Understanding others motivates them and enhances their work efficiency. The role of local administration is generally in an improper manner. It is more threatening rather than improving the work standards. Customers' behaviour sometimes makes you feel annoyed and upset. Under such circumstances you need to observe cool and not to make a show of the things before the public. Hard work and deep involvement in maintaining the standards of your product and lively behaviour never allow the fabric of ties fade. Competition in the market, keep you dynamic and introspect your way of working. When the far away residing customers travel a long way to visit you especially for having the special taste, it enhances your self-confidence and motivates you for further enrichment of your products.

Establishing or running a succeessful business warrrants serious attention to a wide range of aspects such as human resource managemnet, technological endeavours, customer relations, professional education, market analysis and above all self-innovations and discipline. One has to attend the market needs in a highly responsible manner in terms of quality/quantity parameters, uniterrupted supply and cost factors. Identification of the gap areas in any business is very important factor to determine the market needs and undertake associated initiatives. Some times the State and Central Government policies seem to be a bit unfavourable for accomplishing the proposed goals of production and supply. Under such circumstanecs one needs to be a bit skillful in management aspects...... while in Rome do as Romans do. In order to establish your identity as a trend setter in the business spheres, you must get ready to face the odd challenges also. Sometimes you may have to face the insuffient supply of raw material owing to natural calamities like delayed/ insufficient rain, crop diseases or pest attacks. The associated manpower working under your supervision needs to be handled with an objective of optimising the use human resource at one hand and maintaining their high spirits on the other. The errant fellows need to be considered in a mutually communicative and considerate manner. An indifferent temperament towards employees may prove detrimental to the entire set up. The power of decision making should be decentralized so as to outsource the maximum available expertise. In other words there should be "collective thinking and individual responsibility".The technological advancement and upgradation coupled with professional education helps to manage the things in a better way. An interface with the newer relevant techniques and technological advancement in the business make the things feel more confident and competent. Above all a sound mental and physical health forms a resistant platform to execute all your plans and achieve what you dreams.
